Public Works: Trees, Streets, & Stormwater Maintenance

Welcome to the City of DeLand Public Works Department. As the cornerstone of civilization, Public Works provides, maintains, and improves the structures and services that assure a higher quality of life for our communities. We promote economic development and sustainable growth of the City through maintenance of City assets, the plan review process, mapping and related stormwater services. Implementing these services, our street resurfacing program, tree services, tree nursery, and public transportation keep us linked together with safe travel for all boundaries of the City.

Duties & Responsibilities

Public Works consists of 50 plus employees operating six divisions: Administration, Streets, Forestry/Trees, Urban Beautification, Fleet Maintenance, and the Stormwater Enterprise Fund. The Street division is responsible for the maintenance of all City owned roadways and sidewalks, to ensure safe access to motorist and pedestrians. The Forestry/Tree division handles all trimming, removal and replanting of City owned trees. The Urban Beautification division is responsible for all landscape maintenance for select City parks, City facilities, and the downtown streetscape. The Fleet division is responsible for the maintenance of all City owned vehicles and equipment. The Storm Water division, which is separately accounted for in an enterprise fund, is responsible for the maintenance of City retention areas, the City owned storm water drainage system, and street sweeping throughout the city.
