Citizen's Police Academy

The DeLand Police Department is excited to announce the start of its annual Citizen Police Academy, designed to give community members an inside look at the operations and procedures of law enforcement.

The Citizen Police Academy will take place Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m., from September 18 to October 30, and will include hands-on activities, presentations, and discussions. The academy will cover a variety of topics including patrol operations, firearms, defensive tactics, crime scene, criminal investigations and traffic unit.

Participants will also have the chance to interact with officers and ask questions about their experiences on the job. Interested individuals are encouraged to apply as soon as possible as seating is limited to 20 participants.

Applications can be obtained at the lobby of the DeLand Police Department Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or by e-mail by contacting Officer Rod Hancock at hancockr@deland.org.
